The Moroccan Caftan In Japan

The Moroccan Caftan dazzles on the world stage once more, gracing Tokyo Couture Fashion Week as l’Oriental Fashion Show presents Maha Bouzoubaa to illuminate the runway in Japan’s vibrant capital.

Japan has long stood as a powerhouse in the world of fashion, and this year, Tokyo officially joins the ranks of Paris, London, New York, and Milan as a global fashion capital.

From traditional dress to casual wear, fashion events in Japan are forums that cherish charming, innovative work and diversity.
L’Oriental Fashion Show, under the wings of Hind Joudar, has been the stable bridge for over twenty years between Moroccan fashion and the East, with emerging Eastern cultures to be a major fashion industry like the West and ultimately considered internationally.

On the 3rd of November 2025, Maha Bouzoubaa, who is carrying her mother’s legacy, Rachida Bouzoubaa, showed her current collection of caftans, flowing materials in different colors and varied cuts, and she wanted to see Japanese models wearing them.
Japanese women wearing Moroccan caftans is not a usual image, surely not something we will see every day, thus, this rare historical moment was formed as a result of love between traditions and civilizations under the banner of fashion.
The attendees, predominantly Japanese and from other nations, were mesmerized by the beauty of the fashion show and how traditional costumes can be an expression of modernity if we have a taste for elegance.

TAZA HOSTS MAROC FASHION WEEK

TAZA has taken center stage as the host of Maroc Fashion Week , catching everyone off guard. When fashion and Morocco are mentioned together, almost everyone’s mind races straight to Marrakech. If a fashion event skips Marrakech, the next guesses are always Casablanca, Tangier, or Rabat. Other cities rarely spark instant associations with the world of fashion. Taza's decision was made by Hind Joudar , the founder of Maroc Fashion Week, who wished to honor traditional dress in particular. We all know that Hind Joudar is one of the strongest pillars of Morocco's fashion industry. She embraced her older sister's love for the Caftan by elevating it during fashion shows in Europe. Through events, conferences, and creative initiatives, Hind dedicated her time and personal funds to conducting an in-depth historical study regarding traditional clothing in general and Moroccan traditional clothing, in particular, especially the Caftan. Taza, one of the most significant cities, is ...
